Raw Protein Power Balls

protein power balls

If you're an active person you've probably heard the endless benefits of protein and carbs both before and after a workout.  And if you're anything like me you're not always doing that before and after part right.  I have a tendency to squeeze my runs in wherever I can throughout my day so I'm not always the best at ensuring that I eat something nutritious and well balanced both before and after.  Enter protein balls.  This is a gluten free, sugar free take of a more conventional recipe I had seen online.  Each ball comes in at around 11 grams of protein, 8 grams of fat, and 18 grams of carbs making it a well balanced energy boost before a workout and a nutritionally dense snack right after.  Recipe below.

Raw Protein Power Balls

-1 cup of Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Rolled Oats

-4 scoops (2 tablespoons) Moon Juice Deep Chocolate Protein

-2 tablespoons almond butter (any variety of nut butter will work)

-1 tablespoon coconut oil

-1 tablespoon chia seeds

-2 tablespoons golden berries (any dried fruit will work or you can skip dried fruit altogether)

-1/4 cup of filtered water

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix until the oats are evenly moist.  Cover the mixture and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.  Form the mixture into balls and enjoy.  Keep extras on hand in the fridge for convenient, healthy snacking.
